Pippa Taylor's Diary

Take a look at what Pippa has been doing lately with her horses.

A very soggy 2012!

Poets Corner going round Barbury

Sunday 5th August, 2012

Well not much has been going on due to the weather forcing most of the events to be cancelled. Clattercote stables is however very happy to welcome Chloe Taylor to the team. She has been with us now for the past couple of weeks and seems to have fitted in very well.

We did manage to get a run at Barbury were Poets Corner had his first Novice run where he did a 32.5 dr clear show jumping and clear cross country. He then followed this up at Aston-Le-Walls novice with another fantastic Dr and double clear coming 9th Emma Davis (owner) was very happy and is now looking forward to Purston Novice.

Gold Crusher has also been going well he did his first BE100 at aston-le-walls where he was only just out of the placings. I then dropped him back down to BE90 for Tweseldown as he'd had so long between runs he did another good dressage and double clear, just picking up a few time penalties in both the show jumping and cross country to push him out of the ribbons.

Spring 2012

Saturday 5th May, 2012

I had a fantastic winter Hunting Rosie Riley and Byran last season, all went amazingly. Riley also had ago at team chasing which he loved. Unfortunately he had an accident out hunting so will be unable to event this season but Boughton Vale vets have been fantastic and hopefully he should be ready for the next hunting season and team chasing.

We have got off to a good start eventing this year with Gold Crusher coming 2nd at Aston-le-Wells unaffiliated High Jinx 8th at Tweseldown and Poets corner 10th at Swalcliffe.

We also have a new arrival Tigger a colt foal out of a Tb mare called Friends of Tina and by the stallion Wish Upon a Star. Tina is owned by Helen Jepson.

Denise, who keeps her stallion Kenny at Clattercote, has also been having a good start to the showing season, qualifying for the Royal London and Equifest in just one outing.

Progress with the horses

Daz and I in the yard

Tuesday 23rd August, 2011

All the horses have been going very well over the past couple of months.

Poet's Corner won Weston Lawns prelim Dressage qualifying for their championship in October. Blimey O'Riley also qualified, coming 3rd, so I was very pleased with both of them.

On the Eventing scene Poet's Corner is doing very well coming 5th at Aston-le-Walls 2 BE 90 and then 8th at Aston unaffiliated BE100, which should set him up nicely for Milton Keynes BE90 qualifier for the Badminton Grassroots.

High Jinx has been putting in some good performances as well having done a good Dressage (28) just rubbed a pole in the SJ but clear in the time at Aston 2 (Novice) she was just pushed out of the places. This was rectified though at Aston 3 where she did a lovely double clear and came 5th.

Gold Crusher has done another 4 yr old class at Solihull, where he put up a fantastic performance 33 Dressage and a double clear. Proving to be a lovely straight forward ride. Competition on the day was tough and he was pushed out of the places but hopefully, with a bit of work on the flat, next week at Milton Keynes we'll get him another ribbon.

It's all go!

Tuesday 14th June, 2011

All the horses have been going very well over the past couple of weeks.

Byran has now qualified for the grass roots regional finals he did this at Morton Morrell where he finished 4th. He then followed this up by coming 12th at Keysoe giving me a fab ride and proving he now knows what he's doing and loves it!

Daz has also decided eventing is a lot of fun by coming 5th at Brand Hall in the 4 yr old class I am now planning to take him to more 4 yr old classes.

High Jinx is really getting into her stride now giving me an amazing ride around Brigstock we went to Houghton 1* on a high she did her best test to date and and ate up the XC - all I had to do was steer! All we need to do now is brush up the show jumping and hopefully next time we may be in the ribbons!

Whilst away at Houghton there was a new arrival at Clattercote in the form of Teddy (Wishful Thinking). Nikki, a horse I put in foal to Wish Upon a Star last year, gave birth on friday night. Teddy is a very healthy little colt who seems to be into everything making mum run around all day!

Another successful weekend!

Daz Aston-Le-Walls
Daz Aston-Le-Walls

Tuesday 17th May, 2011

Well another successful weekend has been had. High Jinx had great fun at Aston-Le-Walls coming 4th in the Novice. I would like to say a big thank you to Ann Taylor for all the help she has given me and Jinx over the past few months - it has really paid off.

All the ponies at home are also coming along well. I hope to be out with Primitive Rays in the near future. Daz is jumping well so am starting to think about 4 yr old classes for him and Byran is still being his saintly self so sure to see him out again soon.

Daz and Byron do well in May

Daz Aston-Le-Walls
Daz Aston-Le-Walls

Tuesday 10th May, 2011

Daz was a very good boy on his last show jumping outing to Weston Lawns with another double clear. Riley also had lots of fun show jumping although he did think all the people by the cafe were quite scary! Eloise Emma Davis' daughter brought her pony Romeo along too and they both did to clear rounds so a big well done to them.

This week Byran has been amazing coming 4th last wed at Morton Morrell Intro and 12th on sun at Keyso. He is proving to be a little super star.

Jinx is working well at home preparing for a busy month with Aston-Le-Walls this weekend Brigstock then Houghton hope she's as excited as I am!

Both Daz and Byron are being produced for sale.

Here comes the sun

Pippa Taylor on Daz

Tuesday 26th April, 2011

Blimey what lovely weather we're having. All the horses have been working hard and Jinx finally got into an event after being balloted 3 times this yr already, she ran at Sapey. Jinx was very happy to be out and about partying again! The x-c suited her down to the ground and she did a lovely clear round having just rubbed a pole in the show jumping leaving her in 15th so I was pleased with her.

The babies also had a party last weekend at Aston-le-Walls unaffiliated 2. Daz put up a stunning performance coming 8th in his first ever a event. I was very proud of him having only x-c schooled once and done one show jumping round he didn't bat an eyelid at anything staying calm through out the competition.

The 2011 season has started

Pippa Taylor and Byron
Pippa and Byron (Poet's Corner) at Oasby

Tuesday 22nd March, 2011

Well the season is now under way and Clattercote got off to a fantastic start at Aston-Le-Walls unaffiliated.

Jinx had her first run of the season in the novice where she did a good dressage and a double clear. This should set her up well for her aims this season of going intermediate and possibly going a to start later in the year.

Byron completed his first event at Aston-Le-Walls also with a good dressage and double clear in the pre intro. Unfortunately we went a little quickly and got speed penalties, oops! This dropped him to 11th but still a very good result for his first outing.

Riley exceeded everybody's expectations doing a 27 dressage and a double in the pre intro winning his section. I definitely feel this may have gone to his head though as he has now taken to throwing feed buckets over the door to demand the attention he feel is warranted!

The following week Byran and Jinx went to Oasby unaffiliated. Jinx yet again performed well, coming 7th in the novice and Byran put up another great performance this time in the intro coming 8th. He is now aiming for the pre novice at Aston-Le-Walls unaffiliated.

End of the Season

Jinx enjoying her holiday.

Wednesday 27th October 2010

Well we have now come to the end of the eventing season which has flown past. I'm really pleased with all my horses who are now enjoying a well earned rest.

Primative Rose started the season well gaining a top 10 placing at Tweseldown BE100 and than going on to N (novice). Unfortunately she then got a bad virus which set her back but hopefully with a bit of work this winter she will be back on form next season.

High Jinx gained several top 5 placings before going on to N where she continued to perform well, getting herself in the top 10 at Kelsall Hill 1 Aston-Le-Walls 1 Barbury and Aston-Le-Walls 2 before going on to compete Weston park 1*. There she gave me the most fantastic ride cross country and still came out full of beans for the show-jumping on the Sunday maybe even a little over keen as it proved a little tricky to calm her in the ring. With all that enthusiasm and energy I'm sure with a bit of work this winter she will do great things next season.

Progress with High Jinx & Primative Rose

High Jinx at Barbury
High Jinx at Barbury

Tuesday 27th July, 2010

Everything with High Jinx and Primative Rose has been going very well at the moment. They have both established themselves at novice now constantly giving me a fantastic feeling each time we go out. High Jinx came 10th at Barbury where she gave me the most fantastic ride cross country. Primative Rose unfortunately missed the last couple of runs after having her bloods done we found she was a little under the weather, but we hope she will be back fit a well soon.

The week after Barbury High Jinx also ran at Aston-Le-Walls where yet again she performed coming 7th in the novice.

High Jinx & Primative Rose have an Excellent April

Wednesday 21st April, 2010

Well, the eventing season is now well underway and I have had a very exciting start with 2 very promising 6yr olds showing a lot of talent for the future.

We have already been bringing home lots of ribbons, starting with our first event of the season where High Jinx came 5th in the BE100. Primative Rose owned by Emma Davis also put in a fantastic performance putting us all on a high for Tweseldown where neither of the horses were going to faulter - High Jinx winning her class and Primative Rose coming 9th. High Jinx also came 2nd at the new event Swalcliffe.

After such fantastic results in the BE100 classes we felt both horses were ready to upgrade to Novice which we did at Portman. Again, both horses put fantastic performances in sending everybody home happy and looking forward to Kelsall where yet again they pulled out all the stops - High Jinx finishing 7th gaining her first point and Primative Rose coming 16th so yet again we left smiling and now looking forward to our next run at Hambledon.

Winter Plans

Snow in Oxfordshire
Snow in Oxfordshire

Monday 15th February, 2010

Well now the snow has gone my winter plans are well underway, even if a little later than planned.

We started off with the all wether eventing at Weston Lawns where Hight Jinx came in a respectable 2nd place, even if she was a little excitable!

Primative Rose, owned by Emma Davis, also performed exceptionally well and is looking very well after her seasons hunting.

This put us all in good moods after it started snowing during the dressage.

The following week we all went to do some dressage again. It was very cold but at least there was no snow this time. High Jinx won her first class and came second in the following one so I was very pleased with her. Primative rose also pulled out all the stops and came second in the first class and third in the next one, making Emma very happy.

Last week we all went SJ which I think the girls were a lot happier with! Jinx did a nice first round staying under control!!! Having just one fence down and doing the same in the second round so I was very proud of her.

Primative rose was a star in the first round going double clear and looking picture perfect all the way round making Emma very proud. In the second round I think success went to her head a bit so the first half was a little speedy but then she calmed herself and did a lovely second half.

We now only have one horse winter show planned before the start of the event season which we are all excitedly waiting for. Entries are now in for Isleham and Twesledown so hope to see everybody out and about soon.

Dressage in the Drizzle

Pippa checking her test

Sunday 13th December 2009

Today I braved the freezing cold and rain to take High Jinx and Primitive Rose to a dressage competition in Aston-le-Walls. Both the horses were very excited to be washed and groomed and knew they were going on an outing.

I was very pleased with how they both went, they were high spirited and forward going and thoroughly enjoyed getting out. We came home with High Jinx being placed 2nd and 3rd in her classes and Primitive Rose achieving a 2nd and 4th. Well done girls!

Wednesday 2nd December, 2009

All of my horses have started coming back into work now after their holidays and are ready to start their winter training so that we can begin our first few events in March 2010.

As well as lessons and a few indoor shows I like to take some of the horses hunting to let them have a bit of fun and stop them becoming too school bound.

Molly's Diary

Molly - Pippa Taylors dog
Molly says…

Tuesday 1st December, 2009

Hello everyone, my name is Molly and I am six months old. My mummy is called Pippa Taylor and she works very hard every day with her horses.

Mum gets me up and out of the house early every morning in the dark!! Has she not noticed the wind and the rain? It's ok for her - she has wellies! I got my own back on her today for all those early, cold starts… I took the bandages she wanted and hid them in the straw. It took her ages to find them! Woof!

Pippa Goes Glam

Pippa Talylor photoshoot: in jeans and boots
Sample from my photo shoot

Monday 12th October, 2009

Last summer I was very lucky to win a make-over followed by a photo shoot.

Having my hair and makeup done professionally was amazing although I don't think I could wear this much makeup all the time, I could barely open my eyes after the makeup artist finished! I couldn't believe how glamorous I looked and felt.

It was a little uncomfortable having all the photo's taken as normally when I have a picture taken of me I'm under a hat, sat on a horse! It was a great day out which I really enjoyed.

To see the full photo shoot please visit my gallery.
